Library Journal Webcasts have always been helpful to
me in keeping abreast of what is going on in the industry. There are several
webcasts available, both upcoming and archived.
For those of us currently between
jobs, this is a good way to keep up with many different trends. The LJ website also includes a
number of newsletters that might be helpful, as well as a Job Zone. This includes traditional and non-traditional positions in the field. The "Tech" tab lets the reader in on innovations in technology and the possible effects of them for/in libraries. Other sections include: News, Opinion, Reviews and Social Media. Much of what is available in these tabs is included in the above-mentioned monthly, bi-weekly or weekly electronic newsletters, should you choose to subscribe to them. I have just re-subscribed to a few and I'm looking forward to perusing them--and to participating in the webcasts. I always feel a hum of enthusiastic excitement when the Book Buzz comes out!
I have felt that LJ provides services that are helpful to any educator: parents, educators, and administrators as well as librarians. They have subject-specific booklists, too (like the yearly Business Book Review). Take a look!
I'm including a link to LJ on the Resources Page as well.
